Who run the world? Girls. Evidently.
Ilotu (a Subia word meaning 'beautiful') is a local cosmetics company that specialises in the production of natural essential oil-based skin, hair and health care products, which includes items such as full body detox clays, foot creams, foot scrubs, body scrubs, face washes, face creams, shampoos, conditioners and hair masks.
Ilotu Cosmetics officially started operating in August 2017. In the beginning, Mareka's challenge was to get clients to try out the products and after a few months, business started picking up and interest grew for the fem entrepreneur.
Masule recently added new lavender facial toners and soap bars to her brand. Which is said to contain collagen which is great for people with acne scarring and blemishes.
“It is water-based, therefore also making a great light hydrating facial moisturiser. This range is special because it is also ideal for men who experience breakouts after shaving. Besides all the benefits, it smells really good,” Masule said the Namibian Sun.
Although the business has grown over the years, Masule said she is still hard at work to make it an even bigger success-so maybe it's not as easy as it looks. But whatever she is doing, it seems that she's got the magic touch because Illotu is not just a beauty business business, but an all around lifestyle and fitness brand.
Masule would like to motivate more Namibians to start exercising as she has noticed that many don't want to. Her hope is for Namibians to know why it is important to be fit.
They need to know that exercise can help. After doing some research in Namibia on why individuals should join a gym or start at-home training, surprisingly, many actually felt intimidated by the idea.
She is currently furthering her qualifications in dermatology, nutrition and anatomy. So, she's not just beauty but she's got brains too.
