The down to earth DJ shared the announcement with her followers on Twitter as soon as it was made public on the official twitter page of the competition. She retweeted the post asking her followers to vote for her saying 'click click away'.
DJ Alba who has been in the industry for a good seven years has achieved so much and has proven to many young girls that one can be whatever they want to be in this day and era. She is currently a pioneer and an advocate for encouraging girls in Namibia and beyond to pursue a career in DJing. The award-winning DJ started off her career as early as 2012 with fellow AfroBerry DJ Maggz when being female and a DJ could hardly be mentioned in the same sentence.
To date, DJ Alba who is the founder of House of Nalo and hit maker of Cymatix has gone as far as Zambia with the British Council on a workshop to inspire and share her skills and knowledge with aspiring female DJs. She has also hosted her own workshop locally as well as a collaborated one with award-winning and hit producer Sam E Lee Jones.
Some of the problems DJ Alba has publicly spoken about include the fact that local event promoters who are not actively willing to pay and help the local industry as they prefer to invest in international entertainers. Another issue is breaking stereotypes around women being DJs.
