After watching so-called ‘size zero’ models strutting their stuff on the runway and on the pages of fashion magazines, plus-sized women will finally have their very own place in the sun.

Meet the 12 finalists for MPSN

With the launch of the second Miss Plus Size Namibia (MPSN) beauty pageant the battle between “fat and slender” has finally been won and women of all sizes can strut their stuff without being sniggered at. We are no longer in the Stone Age after all.

The Grand finale will take place on the 22 June 2019 at the Kovambo Hall, Khomas Regional Council. Miss Plus Size Namibia is a beauty pageant for curvy women in Namibia, founded in 2018 which focuses mainly on the elimination of body-shaming and the associated psychological effects on curvy women in our societies, through the celebration of body diversity and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

This year’s theme is “Women Empowerment” aiming at educating, emancipating and uplifting women, especially the girl child in order to develop capacity building and build an inclusive economy.

Frans Ugwanga, Creative Director of Trending World said during the launch of the pageant that they celebrate women of all sizes, as women are our queens and we should treat them as such and respect and love them.

“In addition, MPSN is uplifting and supporting plus size women and eliminating body shaming on plus size women in our societies. Trending World is very much proud and grateful to work with the meaningful and tangible brand like MPSN and we hope to work with the MPSN brand on more projects to come in future,” he said.

Margo Ruski who is the founder and organiser of MPSN commended Ugwanga for a brilliant initiative.

“We intend on achieving this by equipping our contestants with the tools necessary to inspire self-love, build confidence and stimulate mental activity while cultivating the interpersonal skills required to bring about personal, social and economic growth,’ she said.

Tickets to the second annual MPSN are available countrywide at web tickets at all PicknPay stores, a normal ticket will cost you N$300 and VIP 550 only.
