We often underestimate and even completely forget the power of gospel musicians and the immense talent that they possess.
Today we would like to remind you of some of the best gospel musicians in Namibia. Their songs have a message for everyone; and not only are they winning souls for Christ through their music, but they are also inspiring and uplifting a generation.
If you have never heard of D-Naff, then we don’t know how to tell you this politely, but you probably live under a rock.
Naftalie Shigwedha Amukwelele, a.k.a D-Naff, is one of the greatest gospel musicians in Namibia and has dominated the music for more than two decades. He is the most downloaded gospel musician on iTunes and second overall after King Tee Dee.
D-Naff’s career began in the early 1990s. He joined an acapella group called "Glamour Boys" while still in school. The group helped him kick-start his career on a high note as they were able to tour France during the 1998 World Cup.
After “Glamour Boys” parted ways, D-Naff went on to form several groups before finally launching a solo career in 2006 with his first album “Oshagwana,” which was well-received.
Since 2006, D-Naff has produced over ten solo albums, collaborated with several international gospel musicians, and won over 12 awards, including the NAMAs and NGOMAs.
D-Naff’s music is very versatile, his style is a combination of kwaito, hip-hop, and dancehall, and his songs usually carry inspirational messages.
Besides his work in music, D-Naff has also served as the Ambassador for the National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC).
The ‘My Ways’ hitmaker is one of the most celebrated gospel artists both within and outside Namibia.
V.M, whose real name is Absalom Salom, released his first album titled ‘Soul Healer’ with 12 tracks in 2015. The album did well with some songs like ‘Ondeuya’ and ‘Haleluya’ getting a lot of playtime on the radio.
His debut album earned him a nomination for the ‘Best Gospel Musician’ category at the 2015 Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMA), but he, unfortunately, lost to D-Naff.
Through the course of his career as a gospel singer, V.M has managed to share a stage with international gospel singers like Khumo from Botswana and South Africa’s Zara.
V.M has a lot of potential and is one of the most promising gospel artists to look out for.

Since starting her career in the early 2010s, Lady Dyna has gained a spot on the charts as one of the biggest names in the gospel music industry alongside her husband, D-Naff.
Lady Dyna, whose real name is Dainess Ziba Amukwelel, discovered her passion for music at a young age and started singing in her church choir when she was only ten.
In 2010, she started singing with D-Naff as his backup singer and performed in some major events like the NAMAs.
Lady Dyna then decided to launch her solo career with her first album ‘The Design of Destiny’ in 2014. Her first album featured prominent artists like D-Naff, Marvin B3, and Tunakie.
Together with her husband, Lady Dyna has taken over the gospel industry by storm, and we cannot help but be amazed at how one family can be this talented.
