Tate Buti's early life and background
Tate Buti was born 42 years ago in Oshakati town in the Northern parts of Namibia. Except for his popular sister- musician Janice Mumbangala, information about Tate Buti's parents, other siblings and upbringing is currently unavailable.
His love for music was moulded from a very young age as he grew up in a neighbourhood where people loved music. He grew up listening to the music of Phil Collins, Michael Bolton and music from South Africa where he was drawn to Ringo Madlingozi’s music, Brenda Fassie and Mandoza.
Tate Buti has not shared his educational background although in a past interview he revealed that he is academically gifted and that had he not gotten into the music industry he would have been a pilot.

Tate Buti's music career
Tate Buti embarked on his musical journey in 2002 when he began making Kwiku music and in the 20 years he has been in the music industry, his musical style has evolved while his consistency in releasing great hits year after year has remained.
To date, Tate Buti has released over 15 studio albums. His two latest albums are- Toothpick and I don’t know.
Over the years, Tate Buti has worked with some of the biggest names in Namibia’s music industry including King Tee Dee, Gazza, Sunny Boy, Sally Boss Madam, Exit Rockaz, and Top Cheri, just to name a few.
He has also performed all over the country and is known for his energetic dances that he often performs while shirtless.
Asked about his reason for performing shirtless, Tate Buti revealed that it’s an art and it’s how he expresses himself.
He was among the musicians who performed during the Koffi Olomide concert on the 22nd of October 2022 at the Independence Stadium and his performance received a lot of praise.
