We can all agree that Lioness's career has taken off and is on a high right now. The female rapper, who is also a Doctor, is one of the few musicians who command attention and presence and she has clearly caught the attention of the Malawian audience.

This weekend, she shared the exciting news that she will be headlining one of the most important festivals on the African continent, The Lake of Stars Festival.

Her tweet read:
“So happy to announce that I will be performing at the lake of stars music festival in Malawi September 2019!
Alongside @Moonsanelly.”

The event is a three-day international festival held annually on the shores of Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa. A wide array of stars, from the African and European continents, have played at the Lake, including Zimbabwe's late Jazz legend; Oliver Mtukudzi, South African's Mafikizolo, Freshly Ground, Kenyan Afro-soul band; Sauti Sol, Malawian hip-hop artist; Tay Grin, the list is long! And now, our very own, Lioness will be beasting at the same event.

Having written and recorded her very first track in 2007, her consistency has been impressive. From dropping hits, to releasing videos shortly after her singles, the fierce rapper finally dropped her highly-anticipated debut album titled 'Pride of CilQ' in December last year. Her album has landed her a nomination at this year's NAMAs, where she is nominated in the 'Best Song of the Year' category.

This will not be first time that Lioness represents Namibia on such a huge musical platform and we have no doubt that she will fly the flag high. Earlier this year she featured on a special episode of Coke Studio Africa alongside Kenyan female emcee and her long time icon Nazizi, as well as South African rapper Boity - becoming the first Namibian Hip Hop act to feature on the Pan African music collaborative show.

Lake of Stars Discovery will take place from 27 to 29 September and attracts over 4000 attendees.
