There’s a hot new show on DSTV Namibia’s social media platforms being hosted by the one and only Pombili Shilongo. The new show is called “Women’s Soccer Chats” and is aimed at showcasing women’s perspectives on football. It kicked off in August and we are now 4 episodes in. Every episode, Pombili gets to interview one of our Namibian boss ladies to find out just how much they know about soccer.
For Episode 1, Pombili invited Sally Boss Madam to the show. Pombili gets to ask Boss Madam 5 questions related to football. Boss Madam made us really crack up when she defined PSL (Premier Soccer League) as “Play Station League”. Honestly though I also didn’t know the correct meaning of the abbreviation PSL until today. We learn something new every day. Boss Madam spoke for most women and admitted that the only reason we watch soccer is to enjoy the view of sweaty guys chasing a ball, LOL.
The beautiful Miss Namibia 2021, Chelsi Shikongo, joined Pombili for Episode 2 of Women’s Soccer Chats. She tries but doesn’t really succeed in explaining what a corner in football is. We realized Chelsi knows quite a bit about Chelsea and names Didier Drogba as one her favourite football players. Chelsi also shares how she got her name, being named after Chelsi Smith who won Miss Universe in Namibia ’95.
On Episode 3, they invited Nomvula Mapolombo and asked her about her favourite football team. She revealed that she’s a Manchester United fan. She shocked all of us ladies by actually having a bit of knowledge about the world of soccer. She also called her close friend Helvi during the episode to help her answer some of the football related questions. We found out Helvi knows nothing in regards to football, claiming that a football team has 12 players. LOL! Nomvula also gave away a voucher to one of her followers to shop from her clothing brand, Premium Clothing Wear Namibia.
In the most recent episode that aired last weekend, Pombili sat down with Nelao Lange who talks a bit about her family dynamics and shares with us just how much her son Maleek looks up to his dad Sunny Boy. She also shares that Sunny Boy is a die-hard Manchester United fan. Nomvula’s favourite football player is Edwin Van der Sar, former Manchester United’s goalkeeper. Nelao calls up her boyfriend, Sunny Boy, to help her answer some of the football trivia questions during the show.
Make sure to tune into Pombili’s IGTV and Facebook accounts every Saturday to catch the latest episodes. Every week, they also have a competition where they giveaway really fun and exciting gifts and vouchers to their viewers. You could be the next winner! I must say I have learned a LOT about the world of football through the light hearted conversations and laughs the ladies have had on the show. The episodes are really heartfelt and funny and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.
