New relationship can be scary and no one goes in expecting it to end. Many of us envision a future when we meet a new partner and decide to begin a new chapter with them, but this is not always the case. For many relationships, people grow apart, feelings for each other dwindle, love runs out, and relationships eventually die. Some of our favorite South African celebrities can attest to this as they have experienced their fair share of heartbreak.

This list looks at some of the shortest-lived relationships our South African favs have ever seen.

Black Coffee who is a world famous DJ and his estranged wife Enhle Mbali had what some can argue to be the perfect love story. The ‘power couple’ travelled around the world with their children and looked like they would last a lifetime, especially during and after their lavish wedding. Unfortunately fate had other plans and the perfect love story was not only cut short but it was also stained with vile accusations of physical abuse and adultery.

Professional football player Itumeleng Khune and popular fitness bunny Sbahle Mpisane made their relationship public and fans across the country were shocked as no one saw it coming. The couple were not only fitness goals but they were picture perfect and made us all want to fall in love. Sadly, despite how good they looked together, their relationship seemed to experience more downs than ups.

Their relationship drama continued and the last straw came after Sbahle was involved in a horrific accident. The fitness enthusiast was in a car accident that not only left her rendered to a wheelchair for month but it also left her with amnesia. Her healing process was an uphill battle and although her lover Khune was by her side through it all, she had forgotten how she fell in love with Khune as a result of the amnesia. This eventually led to the couple losing their spark and connection and calling it quits.

At the on set of his booming musical career, South African lover boy Cassper Nyovest had set his eyes on fellow celeb Amanda du-Pont and he worked his way to her heart. The lovebirds announced their new relationship to their fans during one of Cassper's concerts when Amanda walked on stage and planted a kiss on the rapper cementing her girlfriend status. Unfortunately, the excitement did not last long and the lovers soon called it quits. Following their break up, Cassper released a song informing fans of their split.

Kelly Khumalo, South Africa's fav songstress dated sangoma Zamokwakhe ‘Bhaka’ Nzama from Durban. The two had a passionate love affair however, their relationship started based on so much drama that it was doomed from the get go. When the couple agreed to get together, Kelly was still mourning the loss of her baby daddy, Senzo Meyiwa and Nzama was already in a committed relationship. The two tried but eventually ended things after a questionable altercation that left fans confused.

Clearly, relationships are not a walk in the park, even for celebrities. On the bright side, no matter how messy a break is, trying again and getting back out there is always an option. Love is beautiful and we are happy our fav South African celebs found it in each other, no matter how brief it was.
