Musicians, actresses, painters, and professional sports are idolized by many of us, and children look up to them as they grow up. Despite this, quite a few of them make blunders that land them in legal problems from time to time. Because of their celebrity status, some of these well-known figures are able to escape the consequences of their actions, while others are not so fortunate and receive longer, and more deserving, sentences.

Here is a list of some South African celebrities who have been caught red-handed on the wrong side of the law.

Molemo more famously known as Jub Jub, starts of the list. Back in 2010, Jub Jub, was sentenced to ten years in prison after he and a friend caused a fatal vehicle accident that killed four children and left two more with brain damage. When the incident took place, Molemo and his friend were allegedly intoxicated and decided to go car racing near a school. The rapper only served four years of his sentence before he was released.

The rapper reinvented himself and his image after his release by becoming a media persona and having his own reality show called Uyajola 9/9 that he hosted. Sadly, this reinvention did not last long because just recently the rapper and he was involved in a controversial scandal, that cost him suspension from his job.

Muvhango actor MacDonald Ndou sent shock waves across the whole country when he was arrested. The actor was accused of a long list of crimes ranging from impersonation of a police officer, corruption, extortion and kidnapping - such serious crimes! The group of friends was allegedly set up by a businessman after they tried to bribe him of R100,000.

While the investigation into the case and his co-conspirators continued, Ndou was released. He moved on with his life after the event and even started a family

Black Coffee, a world renowned DJ and entertainer also landed a spot on the list. Back in 2015, the DJ found himself in trouble with the law when he was stopped and arrested for speeding, he was driving 80km/h over the speed limit. Black Coffee rationalized his actions by claiming he was heading home to make it in time to spend Christmas with his family. Thankfully, he was not arrested, but he certainly learnt from his mistakes.

Another shocker on the list is international comedian Trevor Noah. Despite his current standing as a national treasure, the comedian had a tough upbringing and adolescence. As a teenager, Trevor Noah was arrested and before he was released on bail, he spent a week in jail. Even worse, Trevor was arrested after he was spotted driving a wrecked car from his stepfather's workshop and was later charged of car theft.

You'd never realize that some of our favorites have had run-ins with the authorities and even spent time in prison, given their thriving careers.
