Various reasons that can lead different people to steal. Different people steal for different reasons, some may steal because they are hungry, whilst others steal because of drug and alcohol addiction. However, there is a different crop of people who steal because they can and simply because they enjoy the idea of taking something that does not rightfully belong to them.
A fat bank account, celebrity status, influence and power can instantly change a person. However, some of our Kenyan celebrities, politicians, and influential favs, have proven that sometimes these things just cannot change a person. Their actions have shown us that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Honestly speaking, it does not come as a shock that some, though not all, of our favorite famous faces have a tendency to steal. What does shock us is what these celebrities decide to steal.
Here are a few Kenyan celebrities who double up as thieves.
At the top of the list is non other than the controversial socialite and media personality Amber Ray. Not a week goes by without the cheerful Amber making news headlines for one reason or another. One of our favorite times was when Ms. Ray dominated headlines after she decided to 'steal' someone else's husband. Talk about MESSY. Amber ignored the fact that her boyfriend, prominent businessman Jimal Roho Safi, was a married man when they began their relationship. The controversial love affair was the talk of the town and even led to rumors of Amber becoming Jamal’s second wife. What a dramatic love triangle!
Bahati, a popular musician also secured his position on the list of celebrities with sticky fingers. Early last year, the gospel singer found himself in hot water after he was accused of stealing his hit song Dear Ex from a fellow up and coming artist who goes by the name Kay S. This tea was served HOT from Edgar Obare, a local Kenyan gossip blogger. Edgar posted receipts from Kay S that explained how the gospel singer had stolen the music from Kay S. The receipts also detailed how Bahati had attempted to cover up and destroy all evidence that linked him to the theft. The drama was short lived as Kay S suddenly disappeared following his accusations but this just left fans with even more question.
Last on the list is media personality Mwalimu Rachel. The radio presenter has been entangled in a number of questionable activities that have found her on the wrong side of the law. Mwalimu Rachel was accused of violently attacking and robbing a man of goods worth KSH. 103,000/- which is roughly about R14,279. A plot twist no one expected! Following the incident, 2020 Rachel was due to have her day in court but things went quiet and we have not heard anything regarding that case.
