Miss Namibia 2021 Gushes Over Her Dad

"My father knew this day would come"

It has been a couple of days since Chelsi Shikongo made history by being crowned Miss Namibia 2021. In 2020 the pageant was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Miss Namibia 2019 Nadja Breytenbach had to continue fulfilling her duties.

Chelsi's endearing traits, beauty, and passion to become a beacon of hope and change the lives of many people have won the hearts of many people.

The model was crowned Miss Namibia 2021 on Saturday in a virtual show which was televised on NBC1 and Miss Namibia & NBC social media platforms. Her first runner became Annerie Maré and Michelle Mukuve became the second runner up.

Taking to her Instagram post, the beauty queen gushed about her dad saying when he named her Chelsi he knew the day of her crowning would come.

"My father knew this day would come giving me the name Chelsi. I truly believe in the power of Manifestation, Hardwork, and Prayer. MEDITATION also really helped me through a lot of days," she wrote.

In an interview with The Namibian, the beauty queen revealed that she was named after Chelsi Smith, who crowned Miss Universe in 1995. She decided to honor her and said he must be proud of her in heaven for scooping the crown.

"Chelsi Smith is definitely proud of me right now what an honor it would have been to meet her and feel her words of encouragement 💙

In an interview with The Namibian, her mother Mary Shikongo said they are extremely proud of her and encouraged other parents to support their children in their dreams.

“I am very proud of her. I was shouting and thanking God when I heard them announcing her name. I advise parents to encourage their children emotionally, physically and financially when they can, when they show interest in a project."
she said.

She said her daughter is determined to bring the Miss Universe crown home.

“It is so important, as it boosts their confidence when they see that their parents are standing behind them. She told me that she will make Namibia proud and will bring the Miss Universe crown home."

Numerous people and celebs have congratulated her on reaching this milestone. Adriano Visagie tweeted, I'm so proud of you @ChelsiShikongo You won and that's all that matters. Now you sparkle in your magic and know that you got the support you need."
