Legendary Actor David Ndjavera Has Passed

Tributes and messages of condolences are pouring in following the passing of legendary actor David Ndjavera.

According to NamibInsider his friend Lucky Pieters confirmed his passing on Facebook. He said the actor died on their way to the hospital this morning. His cause of death has not been yet been revealed.

“I, on behalf of the Ndjavera, Viriua, Murangi, Hengari, Shipurwa and Hukura family, announce the passing away of our dear son, father, brother and uncle this morning. He passed on, on our way to the hospital,” he shared.

According to The Namibian Sun, the actor recently lost his wife who died due to COVID-19 related complications. The actor's career spanned over 3 decades and he appeared in numerous films including Katutura, Hairabeb, and the Taste of Rain. Ndjavera was 52 years and he leaves behind his children.

The nation has been struggling to come to terms with the untimely passing of the theatre giant and messages of condolences have been pouring in since he passed on.

Ashwyn Mberi posted on Facebook "I am in pain. On this exact date in 2016 Uncle David Ndjavera staged 'Nothing But The Truth'. And it is on this day that I must say goodbye to a man that has been so instrumental to my growth as a human being and performer. From UNAM, to giving @openmicnamibia space, to the multiple times you directed and guided me - I thank you, my mentor, my father. Rest In Peace African Giant.

Claudine De Groot wrote "David Ndjavera I can't believe that you are gone, you taught me so much about the movie industry, I was looking forward to working with you again and take the film industry by storm, it was an absolute blessing to have worked with you and to have met you,  another tree has fallen RIP Legend."

Salute - An OYO DVD shared "RIP David. David Ndjavera was our officer in charge in 'Salute!' - a film that has been nominated as Best Movie Southern Africa at the AMVCA2019. Your work lives on David. The whole cast and crew of 'Salute!' stand with your family in those terrible times. We salute you."
