Miss Namibia keeps making us feel like proud parents every time she does something. This could be her showing up to an event and engaging with the kids or her speeches in which she advises the teens through. She could simply rock up and just sit there and we will still be proud.

Well, this time Selma Kamanya actually gives us a real reason to be proud as she shared such a heartfelt message post her recent graduation. The Economics graduate from Nust, in an Instagram post shared her success story which was not always rosy from the get-go as she was in her final year and semester when she was crowned.

“One of the first things that came to mind, was I going to leave university? The thought of leaving university in my third year and final semester brought tears to my eyes. I was so close and wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I decided to stop. So, I took up the challenge,” her post read.

The beauty queen said that balancing her duties was challenging but she did it all with faith and with the guidance of God.

“Trying to balance the duties of Miss Namibia and being an economics student in which it required lots of brain power. I felt like I was being split in half and couldn’t give 100% attention to both defining roles in my life. But God is alive.

And boy oh boy is He good. He gave me the strength. He gave me the endurance, all the very late nights and early mornings and sometimes sun rising because it’s never a nice feeling going into an exam feeling like you could have prepared more. I just want to thank God. All glory and honor go to him,” said Selma.

Despite Selma having to leave her graduation early off to a national duty of attending the Crayfish Festival in Luderitz, she is still grateful for it all. She ended off her caption saying that if she could achieve all she did on her schedule, then no one has an excuse.

“I believe I am a vessel, and I hope that God has shown you, through my experience, that you can achieve whatever you set your mind and your heart to. Go out and be great, no excuses,” she said.

Congratulations to her!
