Videos of Michael Amushelelo apparently leading a protest at Chinatown in Windhoek, went viral. The Namibian reports that the Namibian police inspector general, Sebastian Ndeitunga allegedly called for a manhunt to arrest Michael after those protests.

Then, Michael shared a video where he says he is at the police station, โ€œNdeitunga, I am here, come and arrest me personally because you are just there getting a salary for nothing. If you want me arrested, you must come and do it yourself,โ€ he was heard saying on the video.

He, along with another party member Dimbulukeni Nauyoma, remain behind bars and will reportedly appear in court on Monday, May 16.

On social media, fans are calling for his release and saying he is doing something good for the youth.

Here's what other people are saying:

"Arresting Amushe is not the solution. Ndeitunga and others went into Exile to fight the oppressor. We can also fight them back if they're oppressing us. They must never underestimate the power of a hungry man. We hold the same energy they have in the 70s and 80s. Be warned."

"You can say whatever you want about Amushe, but one thing that I can tell you is that he is fearless and stands up for suppressed. What he is doing is noticeable and has a huge difference in the lives of many."

"What does it solve to arrest Amushelelo if your citizens are crying for help? What exactly is the end goal here? There should be no question on whether as young leaders we support a fellow youth, Amushe is one of us and we will stand by him! Address the root cause; UNEMPLOYMENT!"

"We paid 50% deposit on those counterfeit products that NaMRA destroyed. Itโ€™s a despicable move and unacceptable. We canโ€™t let this government to be stealing from us everyday. Unless youโ€™re truly stupid, all Chinese shops need to be closed down. Thank you Amushe. You have a spine."

"Itโ€™s politics after all, itโ€™s a power gaining tactic that politicians and activists use. Amushe gained strings and virtue with his recent fearless moves. On a contrary, Itโ€™s eye opening for Swapo, the rule of law must favor the majority if not everyone. Itโ€™s a big Win for NEEF."
