Soulistic Music record label, owned by Black Coffee has lost a major artist Holly Rey who said she wants to break away to grow her career. Sunday World reported that Holly took this decision because of the ongoing Gender Based Violence (GBV) scandal he is involved in.

There is no bad blood between her and the label but she says she wants to do her own thing under her own label called Rey Music. That might be the case, but the scandal fueled her decision even more, and she said she does not want any negative publicity.

“I left the record label earlier this year because I realised there was much more I can do as an independent artist, and then the scandals came through. At the time, I realised that my move would make better business sense and with everything that is happening, I’m just glad that I successfully released my single and will be releasing an EP later this year,” she was quoted saying. 

“I loved working at Soulstic Music, but with everything that is happening, I think it is best that I work on myself my own way,” she clarified. 

Holly achieved great things under Soulistic Music especially in 2019 when she broke the record of being the first white female artist to win the Record of the Year Award at the South African Music Awards (SAMA25). Not only that, but she also became the first woman to do 20 years after Brenda Fassie did.
