The countdown has finally begun to the much anticipated partial lockdown in the country, which is set to be in full swing from midnight. Affected regions will include the Khomas and Erongo region.
The lockdown aims to mitigate the risk of contracting the infection through community spread, and It was announced by the president Hage Geingob last Sunday.
This follows a rise in the number of cases reported in the country. The lockdown will be implemented from midnight today until 16 April 2020.
Namibian police have sent a stern warning to those who will flout the rules that, arrests will be made and they will be dealt with decisively.
Namibia is not the first country to face lockdown. South Africa is on day 1 of lockdown today and it set to help combat the spread of the deadly virus.
The virus has claimed 2 lives in the country and more than 1000 cases have been confirmed.
