Her fans flooded social media with congratulatory images. Chelsi is certainly destined for greatness and we cannot wait to witness more of her wins.

The model who hails from the dusty streets of Walvis Bay had everyone beaming with pride. Now that the dust has settled homegirl has taken to her Instagram account to reflect on the monumental moment in her career that changed her life completely.

She posted an image she entered for the prestigious competition. She said the picture was shot in 2020 and she did not think that today she would be Miss Namibia. Even though she didn't believe in herself, Shikongo said she is grateful to the universe for responding to her dreams.

"I didn’t think we would be here today and I am nothing but grateful and thankful that the Universe believed in me even when I didn’t believe in me, success is on the other side of consistency and that too is a journey but starting is already winning," she shared.

Chelsea has been working hard to fulfill her Miss Namibia duties. She recently visited two families in Walvis Bay affected by devastating fires. She partnered with the local government of the area to provide essentials to the families.

"It was a very heartbreaking emotional experience to be there but also very informative because I got to hear first hand how fires start and what are the steps taken when you loose your home to a fire and I really hope the Fire Brigade in Walvis Bay starts an initiative to inform communities and schools in regards to these steps that need to be taken when you have lost your home to a fire and also how to prevent fires," she said

It is so inspiring to see Chelsi changing lives and enjoying this journey. In an interview with The Namibian, her mother Mary Shikongo said they are extremely proud of her and encouraged other parents to support their children in their dreams.

“I am very proud of her. I was shouting and thanking God when I heard them announcing her name. I advise parents to encourage their children emotionally, physically, and financially when they can, when they show interest in a project." she said.

Her mother was optimistic that she will bring the Miss Universe crown home. “It is so important, as it boosts their confidence when they see that their parents are standing behind them. She told me that she will make Namibia proud and will bring the Miss Universe crown home."
