Sunny Boy is a Namibian artist and one of the best musicians in the country. In his early days, he attached himself to The Dogg and Gaza which eventually landed him his breakthrough in the industry.

Personal Life

Sunny Boy whose real name is Pendukeni Andreas Sunday Shipushu was born on 13 March 1983 in Oshakati, Oshana, South West Africa. This means that Sunny Boy's age is 39. 

During his high school days, Sunny Boy spent some of his time in a dance group dubbed Converse Boys. They were so good that after a short while, they became the point of reference as far as entertainment is concerned. 

Sunny Boy and his group mates wanted to become big beyond high school. Unfortunately, the group disintegrated after one of its members died.

Sunny Boy’s Career

Despite the breakup of his high school music group, Sunny Boy’s dream remained intact. He proceeded to the University of Namibia where he met The Dogg who in turn introduced him to Gazza. 

Even though he didn’t have a name in the industry, Sunny Boy has positioned himself in an environment where he travelled with Gaza and The Dogg and performed alongside them.

Gazza was impressed by Sunny Boy’s musical ability that he collaborated with him on the song “Koko” which elevated Sunny Boy’s profile in the Namibian entertainment industry. Later on, Gazza handed him a contract after he set up Gazza Music Productions. However, Sunny Boy turned the offer and opted to join Mshasho Production.  

Under Mshasho, Sunny Boy released the single “Balance” and debut album “Young, Black en Gifted”. His next album “Elai Leneenndunge” came in 2006 and it received a nomination for the Channel O Award as well as the SANLAM Music Awards.

In 2008, Sunny Boy released “The Sleeping Giant” and the following year, “Business and Pleasure” and “Uuluyele” is his latest piece of work. The name of Sunny Boy's album captures the difficulties he endured when he began his career.

Sunny Boy started his own record label which he named Yaziza Entertainment and also has his own clothing brand Hikwa Culture which makes products like t-shirts.

Sunny Boy’s Acting   

Sunny Boy is also an actor. He’s been cast in two movies “This Is Windhoek” and “Captain Kalola 2”.   

Sunny Boy’s Relationships

Sunny Boy married the love of his life Janine Nelaolange Iyambo in a simple wedding ceremony in 2022. The two have been together for more than a decade and have three children, two baby girls and a boy

Sunny Boy’s Controversy

Sunny Boy rejected Gazza’s offer to join his record label Gazza Music Productions after he handed him his career breakthrough. This was such a slap on his face as he went on and joined his rival King Tee Dee’s label Mshasho Productions.
