Nikanora Kamaaizemi Hoveka Kapapsi popularly known as KP Illest is a Namibian hip hop artist who was born in Kenya on 26 December 1993. However, he grew up in Namibia’s capital Windhoek and over the years, has lived between the two countries.
KP Illest has 15 siblings and said that he is the one who keeps them together. Not much is known about his siblings' whereabouts.
The hip hop artist received his education in Namibia. At the university level, he chose to study marketing at the Polytechnic of Namibia after he realised that he couldn’t rely on music to make ends meet.
At 29 years of age, KP Illest has shared the stage with some of the biggest artists not only in Namibia but also globally. He started making music in 2008 and by 2011, he had captured the hearts and minds of the industry after he won the Sprite Urban Competition. His reward? KP Illest travelled to the United Kingdom on an all-expense-paid trip and set the stage for the Black-Eyed Peas at the Wire Festival.
In 2013, KP Illest dropped a mixtape “Kill Your Television Volume” whose concept he explained originated from him not being able to pay for his television license. Hence, the message is that people can always find other means of entertainment other than the telly. For the mixtape, KP Illest won HYPE Magazine SA’s hottest newcomer.
The following year, KP Illest released another project “Memoirs of a Dreamer” which was featured on the hip hop albums on iTunes.
In 2016, KP Illest was signed by King Tee Dee’s record label Mshasho Productions.
KP Illest went on with his television volume series and dropped its volume three which earned him a NAMA award. After a series of mixtapes, KP Illest dropped his first album titled “Price of Ambition” He went on and released a 13-track album titled “Faith and Favour”. His most recent works include “Kill Your Television” Volumes 3 and 4.
