About

Lilani “Adora” Kisting describes herself as an introvert who had to learn how to separate her personality as a musician and her personal life. That was when she started her career in 2006. Now, Adora has different pursuits. She is a television presenter, MC, brand influencer and make-up artist.

Personal Life

Adora Kisting didn’t get into music by fluke. It was almost certain that she would take that route. She comes from a musical family. Her father, Paul Kisting, and brother also sing.

Adora got into music when she was six years old. Her father, who is a pastor and her mentor, lead the charge in preparing Adora for a music career. He took her to sing with the youth choir in a church at Okahandja where he worked.

Adora was born in Keetmans-hoop but due to the nature of her father’s work, Adora switched towns frequently. The songstress is the second-last born of five children. She has three brothers and a sister. Not much is known about her mother Naomi Kisting.

In an interview with the Namibian, Adora revealed that she’s finally learnt how to balance between her two characters, Lilani and Adora. Lilani she says is an introvert who loves staying at home.

The songbird emphasised this by saying that if given 10 hours, she would use it all up in the house watching series. But when she is Adora, she has to be extroverted.

Adora Kisting's Schooling

With her father moving around because of his occupation as a pastor, Adora attended different schools around the country. She started her primary education in Okahandja then moved to the capital, Windhoek and then to Omaruru.

She returned to Windhoek where she completed her high school education at Hochland High School. Adora took piano lessons at the College of the Arts in Windhoek. She also went for vocal training in classical music.

Adora Kisting's Career

Adora Kisting began her career in the church. Her father involved her in some of the projects he worked on. At the time, she was six years old. Even then, she did not have plans to go professional until she began receiving opportunities.

Adora first recorded a song in 2006. She did this with her father and brother whom she says have been a big support in building her music career. Her father particularly has been a big influence.

Adora has gone on to release a couple of songs. In 2015, she dropped a single “Ahaweh” which was well received. What followed was her debut album “I Am”. It was a success as she performed the tracks throughout the country. Her second album “Rise” came in 2019. Hit singles like “Sponono”, “Tsanana Tsao” and “Mamase Remix”, “Sida Di Xun”, “Remind You”.

TV Presenter

Adora has a successful music career. Even then, she decided to go into television in order to “try out new things”. The songstress admits that she is not as qualified to work on tv but she has the passion to do it. She also fancy the chance to explore the opportunity of working in a different space. Her manager and colleague convinced her to try it out.

Adora now hosts a television show Die Eintllike Vibe, that profiles Namibian artists.

Adora Kisting's Relationship

When it comes to her love life, Adora told a local publication that she is open to marriage. She called it “a good thing”. Her ideal wedding would happen on top of a mountain far away from people.

She also went further and revealed that she is in a committed relationship. However, she did not give away the name of the man she is seeing.

Adora Kisting does not have any children.

Adora Kisting's Controversy

In 2020, Adora struck the nerves of Namibians when she referred to artists who come from the Southern part of the country as “drunkards and unprofessional”.

In an interview with a local radio station, the songstress was contributing to a discussion on why artists lose out on events. In contrast, she said that people who live in the Northern part (the area she comes from) are sober-minded hence why they do well.

Her comments were deemed insensitive and tribalistic considering that some countries in the continent have a history of civil war.

In the same year, Adora was accused of engaging in a brawl that happened at the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Although she distanced herself from the allegations, social media was having none of it.

In her defence, Adora stated that together with her mum, they only acted in self-defence as they were attacked. She further dismissed the accusations as “tribalistic, defamation of character and harassment. Adora emphasised her stand against gender-based violence and cyber-bullying.
