Adriano Visagie Remembers The Late David Ndjavera

Ndjavera's passing has sent shockwaves across Namibia

The nation has been grappling with the untimely death of legendary actor David Ndjavera. Industry colleagues and the public have been sharing their messages of condolences to his family and fondest memories of the actor.
Adriano Visagie took to his Instagram page to remember Ndjavera and paid tribute to him
The actor who has worked with him on numerous occasions recalled their last conversation in a heartfelt post, saying no one could have predicted it would be the last time they talked.
"Who would've thought that last night's call would be the last time we spoke. My mentor, my director, my friend my theatre father a Namibian Legend. ( I know how you feel about titles) You have taught me so many lessons and molded my acting career."

In addition to the industry knowledge he gained from him he paid tribute to him and said he learned more about life in general from him.

"From performances in theatre musicals, my debut film Salute - An OYO DVD to directing my first one-hander, you stood beside me and made me enjoy every moment of being on set, that is what a good director does. You have taught me that we can come back from the toughest seasons we face and that through it all to remain humble. Your family shared you with us and at 17H00 we knew you had to pick up Mamma but as soon as your back at rehearsals, scripts down."
You have fought the good fight and lived such a purposeful, selfless and caring life. Thank you so much - Long Live David Ndjavera 🇳🇦," he wrote.

Ndjavera was a theatre giant who had a long and successful acting career spanning a period of three decades. He has appeared in numerous films including Katutura, Hairabeb, and Taste of Rain. Additionally, he has many accolades and awards under his belt, including the best male actor award for 2013's Hairabeb at the Namibia Theatre and Film Awards.

His immense contributions to the growth of the local acting industry are unmatched, and his demise leaves a huge void in the industry.

At this stage, Ndjavera's cause of death is unknown but according to NamibInsider his friend Lucky Pieters confirmed his passing on Facebook and revealed that the actor died on their way to the hospital yesterday morning.
“I, on behalf of the Ndjavera, Viriua, Murangi, Hengari, Shipurwa, and Hukura family, announce the passing away of our dear son, father, brother and uncle this morning. He passed on, on our way to the hospital,” he shared. His passing comes a few days after his wife has passed on.
Messages of condolences have been pouring in since he passed on and they have bever stopped.

Ashwyn Mberi posted on Facebook "I am in pain. On this exact date in 2016 Uncle David Ndjavera staged 'Nothing But The Truth'. And it is on this day that I must say goodbye to a man that has been so instrumental to my growth as a human being and performer. From UNAM, to giving @openmicnamibia space, to the multiple times you directed and guided me - I thank you, my mentor, my father. Rest In Peace African Giant.

May his soul rest in peace.
